Nicki Minaj Slams Kanye’s ‘Gold Digger’ Lyrics, Racial Double Standards

“I said he wasn’t kidding, he was speaking the truth about d industry … I was saying he’s the one who said it first,” the 33-year-old “Side to Side” singer wrote of the Grammy-winning rapper’s line about black men dating white women. “He doesn’t apologize for his choices. He tells the truth about stuff ppl don’t wanna hear!”

Earlier this month, Minaj sparked speculation that she had thrown shade at West, 39, when she seemingly took issue with the rapper’s portrayal of the relationship between black men and women.

“I’m so tired of black women feeling that when our men get rich, they’re going to leave them for a woman of a different race,” she told the November issue of Elle. “It wasn’t funny when Kanye said [in his 2005 hit ‘Gold Digger’], ‘When he get on, he’ll leave our ass for a white girl’ — and Kanye happens to be with a white girl now. It wasn’t funny when he said it; it was the f–king truth.”

Minaj also called out society’s double standards when it came to nudity on social media, using West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, as an example.

“When Kim Kardashian’s naked picture came out, [Sharon Osbourne] praised it, and my fans attacked her for being such a hypocrite,” Minaj said. “So it wasn’t trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it, but it was when a black woman did it? It’s quite pathetic and sad, but that is my reality, and I’ve gotten accustomed to just shutting it down.”

The outspoken rapper doesn’t hold back from broaching the political arena either. At Saturday’s TIDAL X: 1015 concert in Brooklyn, the fierce songstress appeared to take a major swipe at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s wife Melania.

“‘Cause you n—as are so f–king weak, y’all got the audacity to be intimidated by the bad motherf–king queen and get your motherf–king feelings hurt,” she shouted into the microphone. “But it’s O-motherf–king-K, ‘cause Barack needed a Michelle, bitch, and Bill needed a motherf–king Hillary, bitch. You better pray to God you don’t get stuck with a motherf–king Melania. You n—as want brainless bitches? To stroke your motherf–king egos? Well, f–k you, n—as.”

Later, Minaj took to Twitter to issue an apology of sorts for her comments about the former model. “Wasn’t ‘dragging,’” she wrote. “She seems nice. But a smart man knows he needs a certain ‘kind’ of woman when running for President/attempting greatness.”
