Donald Trump begs for advice on next debate – He may rely almost exclusively on his own political judgment during 2016, but Donald Trump is now seeking advice from supporters about how to improve his performance in the second presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.
An email sent out Tuesday by his campaign includes a 30-question “debate preparation survey” for supporters ahead of their showdown.
“The next debate against Hillary Clinton is just 5 days away. I need your immediate feedback from the first debate in order to win the second one,” Trump said in the email, part of a message from the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, authorized by Trump’s campaign.
“I want your honest input. I cannot win this fight alone.”
Trump is viewed as someone who relies on his instincts, and is widely believed to have not prepared for the first presidential debate as comprehensively as Clinton, his Democratic rival known as more of a policy wonk. Most experts, analysts and voters in polling agreed that Clinton outperformed Trump in that showdown.
Trump’s survey asks supporters what Trump should focus on in the upcoming clash. But it also asks whether he should have introduced issues that conservatives have seized on throughout the campaign that did not get major attention on September 26, such as “Hillary’s failure in Benghazi as a disqualification for the presidency.” Trump and Clinton square off on Sunday. Their third and final debate is October 19.
