The Federal House of Representatives on Wednesday, September 28th, suspended former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, for 180 sitting days (60 weeks) for allegedly breaching the practices and precedents of the House of Representatives.
According to the House presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Yusuf Lasun, Honourable Jibrin is also required to tender a formal written apology to the House, before his future resumption of duties.
The staff f the National Assembly were today, pictured sealing off the office of the senator who has also been barred from positions of authority in the House till the end of the 8th Assembly.
Meanwhile the embattled lawmaker took to his Twitter page and fired back at the decision of the National Assembly saying that he never apologize, adding that he will file legal charges of contempt against Speaker Dogara.
“Predictably Speaker Dogara ensured I was ‘suspended’. I wish to state that the suspension is unfounded as the entire process is flawed.
“The so called suspension is ridiculous, a non issue, bunch of nonsense & completely inconsequential that cannot stand anywhere in the world.
“I have instructed my lawyer, Femi Falana SAN to file charges of contempt against Speaker Dogara and of course the House of Representatives.
“Let me state very clearly that i will never ever apologise to anybody in the House of Reps. There is no reason what so ever to apologise! I did not commit any offense. I did not abuse my office,” a part of his statement read.
