Buhari and Wife in US With 108-Man Delegation

According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Aisha have allegedly traveled to the United States with 108-man delegation to the United Nations general assembly in New York.
A breakdown shows that the President’s team include a 16-man presidential advance team, 14 presidential aides, 32 ministers and aides, 24 officials of foreign affairs and other MDAs.
SaharaReports in a tweet revealed that Mrs Aisha Buhari is also separately attending the UNGA with 22 persons, including wives of Governors.
Many have accused the president of being deceptive with some of his plans. Some have wondered what role the large delegation will play as it has been considered yet another waste of public funds in a time many Nigerians have complained of serious hardship and the president speaking about curtailing government expenses.
Buhari came under serious criticism recently after Prof. Farooq Kperogi revealed that the President spent £6m during his treatment for an ear infection in the United Kingdom.
Buhari seems to be versed in saying something and doing another. He was criticized for banning his political appointees from going abroad for medical treatment but did not waste time to travel abroad to treat an ear infection when there are world standard hospitals in the country.
The President had in earlier April at the opening ceremony of the 56th Annual General Conference and delegates meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association held in Sokoto said the government would not encourage medical tourism with the nation’s resources.
“While this administration will not deny anyone of his or her fundamental human rights, we will certainly not encourage expending Nigerian hard earned resources on any government official seeking medical care abroad, when such can be handled in Nigeria,” Buhari said, according to a statement by the Director, Media and Public Relations, Ministry of Health, Mrs. Boade Akinola.
