A 32-years-Old English teacher identified Katie Humpage, hanged herself after struggling to cope with being dumped by her boyfriend, an inquest heard.
She was discovered by her devastated parents at her house in Walsall, West Midlands on July 26, just days into the start of the school holidays.
An inquest heard today that her partner of two years Joe Clarke had recently broken up with her ‘out of the blue’ after they had returned from a holiday together.
The court was told she struggled to come to terms with the split with her boyfriend, who she met while working at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy.
Paramedics were called when her mother Tracey, 53, and Lee let themselves into her property with a spare key when they became worried they could not contact her.
Despite the best efforts of medics she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Recording a verdict of suicide, Black Country coroner Zafar Saddique said:
‘The reason her boyfriend gave for leaving her was he did not see a long-term future together. ‘She did not understand why and this appears to be the reason for her breakdown. ‘The break-up affected her quite badly and she had good days and bad days at the time. ‘My conclusion is that she took her own life. I would like to express my condolences to the family. Sadly we will never know exactly what was going on in her life at the time.’
