Recently, it was reported that the “World class and highly unusual” nickel has been discovered inside the forest of Dangoma Jema’a LGA, in Kaduna State, in Nigeria, a discovery that was confirmed by authorities at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
It was discovered by an Australian private mining syndicate headed by Hugh Morgan, a mining industry veteran.
Nickel is a chemical element with symbol Ni and atomic number 28. It is a silvery-white lustrous metal with a slight golden tinge.
It is extensively used for making stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant alloys such as Invar(R), Monel(R), Inconel(R), and the Hastelloys(R). Tubing made of copper-nickel alloy is extensively used in making desalination plants for converting sea water into fresh water.
