The defender who has never played for Chelsea since joining them in January 2012 wants to use the loan opportunity to play regularly.

"The focus right now is to play regularly and establish myself here," Omeruo told BBC Sport.

"I know what to expect joining a team with big ambitions – it means the bar has been raised even higher."

Before leaving for his loan deal, Omeruo signed a new contract which will keep him in Chelsea’s book until July 2019.

This will be his fourth loan spell- having played at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Kasımpaşa- since signing for Chelsea in 2012.

He joins newly promoted Alanyaspor and will aid in the club in their bid to remain in Turkey top division.
