President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) come under barrage of criticism for using excerpts from speech the of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to boost the confidence of Nigerians over the dwindling state of the economy.
Jonathan had on Sunday, August 28, stated at a public presentation of a book titled: ‘The History of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Otuoke’ that the current harsh economic downturn was only a phase for Nigerians.
The former president said Nigerians must be prepared to protect and develop the country at all times. He said the current challenges Nigerians were facing were transient as the country would definitely overcome them and urged Christians to continue to pray for the country. Following Jonathan’s comments, the ruling party on Monday, August 29, via its official twitter handle @APCNigeria, tweeted excerpts from Jonathan’s speech where the ex-president said challenges faced by Nigerians were transient as the country would definitely overcome. But the gesture of the APC to use Jonathan’s speech has attracted criticism from some Nigerians who accused the Buhari led administration of being clueless. Others accused the ruling party of ruling the country with a garment of lies with nothing to show for the bogus campaign promises the party made during the elections.
