As the Super Eagles come together next month for the Africa Cup of Nations tie against Tanzania, Chief coach Salisu Yusuf is yet to sign a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.
This is against the background of revelations that the team’s technical adviser Gernor Rohr will earn $47,000(about N18m) a month after he agreed terms with the NFF. Yusuf who led an all star Nigeria Professional football League team to a tour of Spain is yet to negotiate contract terms with the NFF as top officials were not readily available.
Before his appointment as the country’s chief coach, the 54-year-old Yusuf was assistant coach and then caretaker coach of the national team. He was on a salary of N2million a month before his latest appointment.
An NFF official disclosed: “Salisu Yusuf was to have discussed and agreed on his own contract after he led the NPFL All-Stars on a playing tour of Spain recently, but all the top officials who would have attended to him were overseas on official assignments.
“He does not know what is on the table for him as no one has discussed the contract with him.
“It is now hoped he will seal his own contract at least before the AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo next month.”
