GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, yesterday presented Certificate of Occupancy, C of O to the first 100 applicants in line with his administration FastTrack 90 days policy. The Governor flagged off the approval of building plans for developers within 48 hours. It will be recalled that Delta State government had flagged off FastTrack 90 on the 31st of March, 2016 for the speedy issuance of C of O in 90 days at a sum of N200,000.
Okowa who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah, said that the presentation of the certificates, renders all existing C of Os void, adding that Fastrack 90 will promote rapid and serial signage and presentation.
“Government initiated Fast Track 90 to bring sanity to land occupancy. Many people thought it was not possible at inception, but today if you are a resident of Delta State enmeshed in a land ownership tussle, Fast Track 90 is the solution. It not only secures your property, but adds value to it as land can be used as collateral under loan capacities,” Okowa said.
On efforts to approve building plans within 48 hours, the Governor said; “We have made it possible to approve building plans within 48 hours, provided the applicant fulfils the necessary requirements.” In his remarks, the State Commissioner for lands and Survey, Chief Dan Okenyi urged Deltans to key into the programme to secure their lands.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, QueensBridge Capital Investment Limited that is in charge of the FastTrack
Programme, Mr Iku Chuks, said; “We are looking at an electronic C of O with well furnished security. The bar code or water mark, points to authenticity and makes it impossible for forgery. It adds value to land as it can be used as collateral.”
